What do you earn per hour on your farm ?

you cant live of capital increase (unless you plan to sell up at some point)

farmers (who own land) are some of the poorest rich people there is !
I know plenty of people living off an increasing overdraft, and I've never understood how folk that own land can be poor unless by choice.
If I can make ends meet with an FBT and a mortgage then surely.....

exactly - but at some point that increasing overdraft has to be repaid - ie if thats what you are living off you are planning on selling up at some point even though you may not realise that yet !

I think a lot of people are fundamentally living off increased borrowing but sell it to themselves as 'investing in what ever'. Otherwise you might as well spend your life doing something enjoyable. I pay myself a set amount each month and then the extras, services etc.

More importantly how much do those who own land put a value on it?
Plenty of farmers are only making money because they don't.
Landowning should be a separate income than farming.

Depends how long you intend to spend on this earth . If you only have the best of 20 years left and you are happy where you are then let the bank keep you if they are happy to do that

Like @gatepost I also pay myself a monthly wage plus some other bills. However you don't want to the end of your career and feel all you have been was busy . There is more to it than just drawings though. Depends what the individual looks for . I'm not feeling guilty for trying to improve my worth to society by doing things differently for a better return and still be content with my lot

Impossible for us as all our profit comes from the groundworks, firewood and miniscule eggs. But if at the end of the year you are breaking even and you are drawing a good income then divide that by the hours. But like everyone else we dont clock off like 9-5 job. Even the odd bit of paperwork in the evening, popping to workshop and discussing plans all have to be factored in. I do think for farming its prob minus.

Is that very very small eggs or only a handful of big ones?

How has land value got anything to do with personal income ?

All businesses have operating costs, of which staff income is one of the many.

Living off borrowings means your business is insolvent, and if you are Limited, this is against the Law.

Why transfer your assets across to the bank, simply to fritter them away, appeasing your conscience on the basis ' my land is increasing in value more than my income ' is boxxxcks.
