Went into our local Toyota dealership on Friday as I’m interested in buying two new hiluxs .
Me . Hi I would like to speak to someone about two new trucks .
Dealer. Yes sir if you would like to find a seat someone will be with you shortly .
Me . Ok no problem.
Ten mins later the salesman comes and sits down .
Dealer .how can I help you .
Me . I would like to discuss purchasing two new trucks .
Dealer . Have you got your driving license with you .
Me . Yes but I don’t want a test drive I want to talk about price and availability.
Dealer yes we can but can I copy your license first pls .
Me . Why.
Dealer . Because I need to .
Me . No you have my name address and number you don’t need my license, I want two trucks this spec and colour can you quote me .
Dealer . I will have to talk to someone about it and call you .
Me . Got up and left .
Today at 10.50am my phone rings and they want to talk about trucks then got grumpy when I said no could you phone me Monday morning when I’m at work pls .
I had similar once, went in to buy a new truck on a wet day, the price was a secret, then so was availability, they want to ring me back. No I want to do a deal today not tomorrow or the day after. Ended up leaving and going elsewhere and did a deal

I’m annoyed too, and it’s got nothing to do with me. 🤭
Yes , it would annoy me as well . I think a lot is to do with information gathering a(and storing ) Knowledge is power . No. 2 son went to feed some outdoor cattle a few days back . apparently there was a missing person alert for that area , and the police were in attendance . "Can you identify yourself , Sir " Yes of course officer , - he was in the old Toyota with bags of feed in the back . "What is your date of birth , Sir " W.T.F has date of birth got to do with anything ? I think it's info for it's own sake .

I did that when I bought my last Navara. David Hayton, no good. Perrys, no good. Barton Townley - we can have one here in 2 weeks. Paid on the spot with my debit card and drove it away when it arrived a fortnight later.

just had similar went to dealer looking he said thats the last one no more till april two days later when they rang i said think i got a deal else where was told i could have one in 5 weeks bloody con men
I don't think that's fair.

A stock order at your spec would take until April... but to try to save the sale, he might try to pull one off fleet to kick to you. It's stock handling - a buyer for one won't wait. A buyer for 10 might take delivery of 9 and wait for the last, for a small finance reduction (or whatever).

His margin might be near zero on the vehicle redirected to you but it's customer retention. Also, I'm guessing you were a cash buyer? That's the last thing a main dealer wants. They get paid to sell finance. A slim margin on the sale is bulked by a finance contract.

rung dealer was in, took mine in they honoured there px value they offered over phone

Paid the balance,

they looked at me like i had taken a turd on the dealer floor,
'no one ever take them the day they buy them'?

why the f**k not, she had to speak to manager who thankfully agreed there was no reason not to?

blows my mind think they just wanted to clean it? i said its clean enough , i aint driving back here just for that.

Similar reaction when I pulled the card out - the room stared at me, like 'WTF is he doing?!?'.

Everyone rents everything, now... and on top of that, they want perfection. No matter the price point, they will send every car out utterly sterilised. You would be surprised, and appalled, at how quickly a customer will leave a bad google review of a dealership because they found a solitary hair on the headrest of the new car they'd just received free of charge on motability.

As soon as I said I’m a cash buyer I was looked at like peasant that couldn’t afford credit

Buying a car a few years ago I said I'd pay outright and didn't want credit. The salesman said "you farmers have loads of money, your the only ones that pay in full". I almost got up and walked out, but I couldn't be bothered to find another car elsewhere as it was just what we were after.
I told him "that it's because we don't buy what we can't afford, that's why I don't need credit and that's why I was buying second hand !"
Them pi$$ed him off by flatly refusing the consider all the "extras" that they try to frighten you in buying.

My aunt recently brought a Suzuki and despite having funds upfront was told they could do the car cheaper if she took out finance. She took the contract home and read all the small print and discovered that there was no one penalty for paying off the finance early so she took the deal (approx £1k cheaper) and waited 14 days and paid off the finance in full. Ended up saving £965 (after admin fee) on the cash price of the car.

Hospitals….. or more accurately the imaging department. They’re always so flipping cold. I’m half naked in an ice cold doughnut having a heart ct and they ask me to hold still. I’m f**king shivering you moron, turn up the thermostat.
they have the windows open for ventilation and have a low temp to help stop the transmission of covid at least that was what I was told,i spent all night in a&e wearing one of those gowns one size fits all, for one thing, no they don't! I am a six-foot eighteen stone farmer the gap at the back is about six inches after a few hours a nurse came in wearing an anorak and asked if I was ok i said no I am cold could I have a blanket, when she came back I told her I am a livestock farmer if we have a sick animal the first thing we do is keep it warm

I'll remember that for if there's ever a new car bought here.

I'm totally hacked off with my local garage. My Isuzu D-max went in for the brakes replacing because I could see the disk was shot at, a dodgy abs sensor (light on on the dash...again) and an mot. Got a phone call saying it has failed the mot because it needs brakes and an abs sensor ...duh...Then I get told the sensor will take 3 days to arrive, after 4 I phone and get told someone will phone to explain the delay. Long story short 5 times now I've been told someone will phone to explain the delays and latest call from me results in me being told the part 'should hopefully' be in by the end of the month of November after they got the car in on the 28th October.
I can understand global parts shortages but t'internet has dozens of suppliers saying they are in stock.
Can't drag car out from under them because it now has a failed mot and is illegal to drive.
The girl on the desk repeatedly ignores me when I point out parts are available from online suppliers. I think I better go outside now and kick something inert before I let stupidity/frustration/anger make me say something to 'she who could stab me in my sleep' that I might regret.
