As a young person who wants to be a farmer, i want to know what an experienced farmer should know. Most of the people that live in my country are too unlearned about farming. So, with using internet, i believe i can learn a lot of things about farming until i start to do this job. In addition, you can advise me books, journals, articles, written sources etc.

Many years ago my dad told me they had a young guy ,fresh out of agricultural college start on the farm ,,well he thought he knew it all ,,he had studied hard ,learnt everything from books ,,got a huge shock when my dads boss told him on his first day that what ever he thought he knew he could forget and do things the way it been done for years ,,Dad said he made a good worker once he stopped referring to every book he had read

pretty much my experience....the best thing they do teach you is to think about the job IMO

And that's a good thing? Was the farm still using a wood plough pulled by serfs, or had some new thinking been allowed occasionally?

You've not answered the question. All you've said is they made him do it the way it had been done for years. Maybe the way the books had taught him was better than the way the farm used to do it.

Tbh that is a terrible attitude to have. Granted a lot of knowledge is tacit, but even still, to disregard everything from books and go back to 'the way its been done for years' is probably the WORST advice you could give.

No wonder farming (generally) is rather behind the times.
