What spray for Buttercups?

Ok, thanks for that, but it wasn't very dear as it was. Sorted my Rushes out aswell!
How well and what growth stage were they at when you sprayed them? Have seen Thrust do them a fair bit of harm, otherwise glypho' but, obviously, that knocks everything else out too.

Have been experimenting with vinegar, I am not joking. Spot spraying rushes with vinegar does kill them off, but it takes a couple of repeats to be sure.

They (the Rushes)were quite well grown, as in the Buttercups were flowering. There are maybe 10% as many now as there were before spraying late last Spring.

A chap i spray for has still got them coming up in wheat after six years of corn

Same. I have a field that I pulled out of pp (mostly couch and buttercups) 4 years ago, that still has buttercups coming up every year. Knocked back each year by blw sprays, but still coming up each Spring. PH is sorted, and cultivated once, sometimes twice, each year.

Just plain Mcpa is good for soft rush(y) And doesn't knock clover too much

Thanks for that, assume fresh growth at about 6" the right time to hit them? I've used Spear for other stuff, but didn't have to worry about rushes until we came here; from memory it needs a month's wait before cutting, hmm... need to do some math's.

I'm getting good results with a combination of topping and spring-tine harrowing. This plant spreads the same as brambles, by throwing out runners over the surface which then take root, not by spreading roots underground. Harrows on a fairly aggressive setting (vertical to the ground, in my case) rip them about. I also top very short. Every time the sheep move out of a pasture, I go in with the topper then the harrow. Seems to be working, as they're now down to occasional plants, rather than a sea of yellow.

New weapon of choice for buttercup is Envy. Dont cut dose. Use adjuvant and plenty of water, need good coverage. Will hurt clover.

Beware it uses florasulam which is an ALS inhibitor herbicide- so dont expect it to curl weeds up instantly. It takes 10 days to show effects, weeds cease growth, yellow and fade.

Not sure how hot it is on docks yet.

Rushes top off now and hit green regrowth when its 12 inches tall. Full rate 2,4D and MCPA dont mess about.

Tried Envy last year and the field is still dock free, unfortunately the buttercup is back in places

I really annoy my neighbors as there fields are covered in buttercups but mine are free from buttercups. Quite by accident I use straight discs to get rid of sedge but the side effect has been to kill off the buttercups.
