Surely May’s mistake was not to engage with the Labour Party straight after the last election. Instead she choose to stagger on with the DUP and result is the tail wagging the dog. Even that would have worked if her party were united but they are split beyond repair. Complete shambles.

Yes.
She should have run a government of unity. Or if not a Brexit committee of unity.
Between All Parties.

Deciding what type of Brexit they would agree with as an end game, before sending the ART 50 letter.

Then Employ the best negotiators the nation has available, to deal with the other side.

While this was ongoing another No Deal unity committee should have been preparing for no deal, no expense spared.

As it's turned out it's better to stay in than take Mays deal which no doubt is the plan.

Dear Honest John. I’m sure you mean well, but reflect for a one nano second on that one word in your post “unity” ..... thank you .... I’m sure that when you were two percent into that nano second, you had already dismissed the possibility.

You do actually know deep down, that there is no modern western democracy so divided and so riven as the United Kingdom. There appears to be zero consensus or unity around anything ......

Gareth Southgate made a good effort, but that’s about it I’m afraid ........
