Talking of steering problems I was a young student at Llysfasi College in the seventies. To my chagrin my mother insisted on calling it 'The Local Farm Institute' which conjured up images of straw chewing yokels wearing smocks and bearing pitchforks aloft.
Anyway, be that as it may, we had been on a ploughing lecture at a field some quarter of a mile from those dreaming spires of the college. Being regarded as 'one of the saner' members of the class ( a somewhat dubious compliment in the light of the fact that our intake was regarded as one of the worst ever encountered in the history of that august seat of learning) I was designated to take home an MF 35X Multi Power with a long three furrow plough attached to the rear linkage.
Those of you who may have driven a 35X Multi Power will know what comes next. Those who haven't will probably also know what comes next: but suffice to say that when you engage High Multi Power at 1700rpm on the highway with a long three furrow plough hanging off the back of a 35X oncoming traffic en route to Ruthin tends to take evasive action.
I still somehow got a credit in my NCA but my reputation as one of the saner members of our intake was mercilessly thrown into the swirling dust of the debating arena.
