There is a Claydon hereabouts, it plants a fair bit of contract ground, including a local farm that has always been ploughed etc.
Only comment I can make is that the slightly yellow soiled tricky field that faces me now seems to need three attempted drillings each year to secure a crop.
Same old story I think, nothing yet made is absolutely ideal for all conditions.
Good paying machine for contractor if he gets to drill it 3 times!

my oats were harvested before all the rain and there is still quite alot coming in the wheat, I think i will have to broadway in the autumn.

Certainly. The shook oats simply didn't germinate until the soil was moved. Roundupped when we planned to drill but rained off. Now phase two. I'm in two minds - if no bg has popped up I may leave them and hope the preem stops them. Certainly it will be a mix which would nuke winter oats as a preem. Then a cheap, early spring tidyup.

Walked over my winter barley that I drilled last thursday, it has all chitted and was amazed how dry the ground was after 100 mm over the week end, if we had a dry day tomorrow it would drill but forecast for heavy rain friday. Good news is some ditching work we did in spring has removed some ponding areas

Not drilled a seed yet. Bit concerned.

On the upside I did hear that the local distributors were getting orders for round up, to be applied post emergence to some early drilled crops....
