Wheat mildew

Anyone got sure fire way of stopping this. Gets more expensive every year, I grow istabraq, Zulu and skyscraper, they all get it. I use plenty of MN but there is definitely something about nutrition that helps just not pinned down the one thing that will do it.

We just don't see it. Even the most basic fungicide program for septoria sorts it out at T1. I can't remember the last time we needed a specific mildewicide in wheat. Was probably Claire in 2014 which would have had some Talius to sort, with Mantra at T1.

I quite often have to do two passes on susceptible varieties like Claire or Leeds, but I've dropped them now. I'm on lighter soils so need varieties like istabraq for drought tolerance. But even vars with higher mildeww ratings suffer. Last year there were good and bad patches within inches of each other and these were greener patches on overhead pictures. So obviously something to do with nutrients or stress as well.

Use cyflamid or cloister as your tank mix fungicide at T1.

You may find very thick and sweaty crops get it more readily as there is less air movement through it.

Some varieties are worse for it but in general I saw lots of it in thick crops on very fertile dirt.

Do not let it get on the ear whatever you do.

We've been seeing quite a bit of mildew this last few years .
Light mn deficient land is the cause but it's also quite fertile with annual applications of muck and it gets early N as well so is thick and lush. The heavy land isn't as bad, and oddly we don't get it in barley just wheat, I've only used talius on wb once in the last 5 years.

Normally i sort it at t0 with cyflumid or Corbel at t1, this year I just used Corbel at t1 as there didn't seem much about early on. It may need another does at t2 or if I use aviator instead of adexar the prothio will sort it but I'm growing jb Diego and that'll benefit more from adexar for the rust.

If it helps @Colin I get it just the same as you and on similar varieties use lots of Mn here too. I find that some eclipse at t0 or t1 is normally sufficient to dry it up
