When is the latest you have (successfully) drilled grass seed.

Well our seeds went in 13th October - much later than we wanted, but we told our contractor, who has failed to get to us the last 2 autumns to reseed, that we were not putting up with another spring reseed, we just can't afford it. Spring sown seeds for us are full of weeds and we haven't a hope in hell of getting a first cut silage off it in late May which is always our most important cut. We're too tightly stocked now to afford to lose a field in the spring.

As to the 'successful' bit, it is all nicely up and growing strongly about an inch and a half long in the drills, plus a lot of extra cover (including clover) from the old sward which was cultivated but not sprayed off. No new clover showing yet but it has had near perfect conditions since drilling. Next week will be the decider, hopefully it is hardy enough to withstand the sudden change in temperatures, I'm sure it will be fine.
