Where are all the eggs?

There seems to be a shortage of eggs and it's getting worse.
It was put down to them being in the wrong place last week but it's got worse since.
All the restaurant and catering trade has about dried up but the retailers just can't get enough.
I guess there is a lot of home baking and cooking going on.
Still the same amount of birds laying as before.

Back garden egg sales in my little village are strong ,,nobody gives a stuff they are not lion stamped as long as they can get hold of some,,home baking is taking of big style by the lack of flour on the shelves.
Ive got 20 birds ,quite a few are pensioner but they pop an egg now and then ,,I can collect 12-14 every day ,,lass over the road takes a full tray every week ,,now got one of my customers taking a tray ,,omelettes ,yorkshire puddings and scrambled take care of any spares

Can't get hens any more, at least round here. Local supplier was a stickler for doing the DEFRA paperwork every time he sold point-of-lay hens. Recently didn't bother and just handed them over at a distance and took cash. Now like many others he hasn't any birds left.

Apparently it's not eggs that are the problem there are plenty of them but there are no egg boxes. The whole of Europe is supplied by just three egg carton manufacturers. None is based in Britain; and the nearest one – in Denmark – is closed for the next fortnight. And so we have warehouses full of eggs and queues of shoppers asking for eggs, but no means of connecting the two.

Local egg packer here has no eggs in store at all, they're going out of the door as fast as they come in. Sales up over 40%.

I have had 2 egg box deliveries this week. One complete the other just 25% of what's ordered. Only small amounts though. 2500.
Heard of one big farm waiting a fair while for delivery.

Free range flock sold up locally, selling 18 month layers for £3 each, seems half the houses in the village have chooks in the garden, including my daughter. He used to do a lot to local pubs / hotels / restaurants. Thankfully he intends to re-stock when this madness is over.

Not really sure, chickens don't lay extra eggs just because demand rises but there are still plenty bwing produced, it'll settle down. Naturally the producer isn't getting any extra money from the retailers though....

Lovely set up.
Wish I knew where to get some. We can't produce enough for our customers. I feel sorry for the regulars who have supported us for years. They are coming for eggs and finding non left!
