Where to buy cows

I think it's because they have delicate noses that are easily broken.

I have one with a wonky face and I heard her nose crack as I pulled her out of a stream with a halter after a breakout.
Fair enough.
I know someone with a wonky face....rugby boxing and too many breakout Saturday nights in Barnstaple!

I’ve got a bunch of about 90 heifers that will be calving from next January onwards. All for sale.

I know they are ready when they are ready but May to September is the time to be calving if your looking for a easy sale. Either feel good factor of grass and summer or the seasonality focuses a lot of people these days, that is unless they are crossbred grazing cows but they always seem to be predominantly sellers rather than buyers.

Can’t decide for the life of me what to put this lot too in Aug/Sept/Oct. All fleckvieh x Hol and the few pure fleckvieh will probably have sexed fleckvieh straw.
Some will be sold either incalf or fresh.
If you were buying incalf heifer what calf would be your choice.
I’m thinking sexed Holstein or fleckvieh depending how dairy they are then limo bull.
I don’t really want the heifer calves and they don’t seem too be worth as much as good beef calf..... so maybe all limo??

From a personal point of view, an easy calving angus is preferred.

I think most of it’s down too feeding but as pappullers said Hereford or Angus is easy but you’d be £100 or more off on calf value. . When I had a wrist op I used a Charolais on 8 heifers. All calved fine.
It’s a trade off between saleable calf and not risk harming the future of your heifer.
Hire a young Holstein bull would be laziest option but I hate Fresian bull calves with a passion.
