Using batteries to store electricity should make generation much more efficient, solar is very reliant on the sun obviously off shore wind much more reliable

there are many ways of generating electricity

you just have to do what’s suitable for your location. Solar, wind, tides, geo thermal etc etc

storage technology is the critical part

Interesting that reported in The Times the lack of wind with high pressure systems meant National Grid issued warnings a few days ago.
The programme I saw said these off shore ones rarely suffer from no wind but there are times when we get blocking highs in the winter that could cause lots of issues, I really dont know why we dont use rivers for more power, they are reliable and in winter larger flows should guarantee power. The Severn barrage was a no brainer and the second crossing on the top would have saved a fortune on the bridge. No joined up thinking, it's like all the stupid recycling stuff that takes more energy that is saved, just burn it and generate electric

Current planning policy requires new offices etc to install electric charging points, same as disabled car parking spaces etc.

Can you imagine when Red Tractor inspector turns up:
"where's my charging point?"
"We don't have one..... there's not enough capacity on our line for one"
......RT man licking the tip of his biro ready to write his favourite non compliance of the day

Yep, we’ve built a commercial building on the farm and had to install two charging points, there’s quite a few around now, it would be tempting if I worked at one of these places
