Which 56 bale carrier

Presume you mean Chillington. Yes definitely the best. Originally designed and built by Logic farm machinery. Used to use one on a Ford 3000. Neighbour had a Browns 40 squeezer on a 5000 with ever weight he could find to keep the front down and no power steering!

Logic here, no centre Spear to push heap over, they work perfectly with straw, hay needs good solid bales and accurate stacking.

To make heaps that can be moved several times use 10 on their edge at the bottom, (robbing 2 from the top which will then be 6 bales obviously)

Does anyone make them anymore?

Ritchie made a batch a few years ago of which we bought one, we use it to carry 48 hay as 7 layers we find can be unstable and if bales are heavy can fall out when picking up, 56 in straw though, have hauled many thousands with it and previous model over the years. Off to bale some more to put it them in a moment

Had a logic for years, brilliant and far more stable than a richie or browns. Could shift some straw coupled to an 2wd 885xl super two.

We used one for years, I must have moved thousands of bales with ours, added wider steel on the inside of the bottom gripper bars but as long as the stacks were well made it was no problem

^^^^^^ this. A bit of care building the stack and levelish ground was the way to do it. We also found two layers the same way at the bottom helped
Yes we always stack the bottom two layers the same way, and always use a strap if going more than a very small distance on the road

Chapman trailed bale carrier served me well, took up to 80 usually stacked 64 high for ease of stacking

Also have 3 trailed versions. Mine are all 64 . Always do a tie on 2 layers then you can move them as many times as you like. Forklift straight in shed and most of them back out of shed.

Browns are miles better imo, the central spike holds the bales more securely. I have 2 and have used them for nearly 40 years.

Tin hat on with all the above comments but I think that the Logic type are unstable on the road and over squeeze the bottom row which causes stacks to fall over when you have put them down in the shed.

Buy 2 big trailers and load them , lot of logistics stacking and carting 56 bales .
But then you have to unload them before you can collect more.

We typically bale 1500 bales from luchtime onwards and have them all stood in bullock yards and grainstores by dark.

We also make hay in fields where you can't get with an 18 foot trailer let alone a big one.

Serious question. Do they really actually work or are they just another machine promoted by the reps who have never used one?
I’ve carted a lot of straw with them. We had 2 when I was a lad even carted big square bales with them. Dad loved them for some reason he’d plonk them all down in Cattle yards up feed passages etc and we’d stack them on a wet day
