What you could do after cutting off the front bar socket, and placing the share/point in position is to lightly tack weld the back of the share to the frog.
That would hold it in place then you could drill the holes in the exact spot you want.

Another thing I forgot to mention is the fact you need to cut the front of the landslide as the bar point version comes right to the front, whereas the new style point you are fitting goes over onto that side

What would be best drills to use?

There are special drills for very hard material but they are expensive. Trouble is, especially in the material they used for the frame, is the pockets of carbon which you encounter. Try sharpening a masonry bit as you would a drill bit.
If on the other hand you encounter something which can’t be drilled, then cut it out with the bottles big enough to insert a 25dia piece of EN8and weld it in. Welding it will make it tougher. Flat it off and drill.
