Thanks that's great.
GPS is not really required I was just wanting to future proof the machine. We are currently vari rate P&k and I guess we nor far away from sowing generally with variable rate. Just would seem to follow that the osr would go the same way at some point.
May be I over thinking it !

Spoke to opico at highland show which was very useful but local dealer has not got a lot of info.

I know someone who runs an opico off greenstar for forward speed so it can be done not sure how tho if it's just a plug in job or if they've patched into a wire.

In reply to your earlier question about speed yes 8-10 k is what I go at for rape with the sumo and make a grand job and even if you think it's on the rough side it still seems to grow fine if it's too bad usually double roll after to finish off.

Aye you putting fert on as well if your needing a distribution head?

If you want full width spreading you'll need the wee splash plate jobs that came with our sumo seeder if I was doing cover crop/grass etc I'd make up a bar for behind the roller after trying some stubble turnips for a neighbour last year they grew fine but I think the roller burried too many for me.

The other pic is how I'm set up for rape I made up pipes to go about half way down the roller so it's putting seed in just behind where the soil lands off the discs so hopefully isn't too deep we still sow at about 2.3-2.5 kgs/hec and get a decent crop out of it.

Lots of folk running a rubber curtain in front of the seed outlets so the seed isn't buried too deep in the cloud of soil thrown up off the discs.

Yes the cultivator has a curtain.

That's how I imagined the set up just in front of the roller with a straight pipe for the rape and swap to a spreader plate for cover crops.

We will be running a df2 front tank for the fert so solid distribution head required.

Aye I've seen a few right enough but never felt the need as yet we're now into our 6th year and I think the only thing I'd do different would be put granular fert on at the same time but we've no front hopper so it's a fair expense for our acerage

We just broadcast
We pretty much have no option but to fert down as we so far north. We need to get the plant to hit the ground running.
S
100kgs hec on after to get the plant up and running and put the tramlines in for pre emerge spray but I like the idea of just putting fert where the rape is. Not feeding the crap in between!

The idea is fert behind the six front legs and the seed in line with this just in front of the rear roller. So as soon as it starts to grow the fert is right there and gets of the a flying start. Lack of moisture is never a problem for us.

Just about sorted with specs and types got my head round it all. Then to be told the fert distribution head kit is not available for 10 weeks.
Grrr
Where to get one ?
Also ? Anyone mount a seeder on a machine themselves ? Where to get rubber mounts ??

Rubber mounts ? Both our stocks and sumo seeder are bolted solid onto machine.

Well as so wet a wee update for all you guys who helped allong the way.

Purchased a S/h he-va multi disc from the Scottish Borders so did not have to travel too far.
Six demountable subsoiler legs, two sets of discs and rear roller.
Purchased a new opico seeder.
Had a fair bit of difficulty finding the fert 6 hole distribution head but managed with help of Tim Smith.
Got it all bolted together just in time to start sowing rape although connecting up the seeder was complicated and had to get dealer to do it which was not in the budget.
First sown rape through and looking well.
Sown a little cover crop but weather stopped play.

Thanks for all your advice.

Storming.
