Which spring barley variety??

Doesn't look very attractive on paper.

Yield for north region UK is 97% of control.
Concerto is 95% and well behind many varieties on the list.
I'm going all Laureate which is 109% but will be aiming for low N market.

Do you have a merchant offering a good contract for it?

better than concerto however, that looks a strong yield whats it like for straw? have you considered sienna?
 
I stand by my assertion, your land must be very fertile. Mine wouldn't fall over unless on black land if grown for malting. You must be getting massive yields

Barley is weak strawed, it stands like a load of noodles. Brackling is one thing, going totally flat is another. The cost is 5/8ths of bugger all and in my area where fertility is virtually unlimited, I don't see the harm in a shot of 3C at least.
