Whole fodder beet to sucker Cows

What’s everybody’s opinion on feeding beet whole? Is it ok or not. We don’t want to spend on a chopper if we can help it.
Do cows loose teeth crunching away at whole ones? And of course risk of chocking?
Thank in advance

Same here all cattle have them whole we do clean them just to stop soil build up in bottom of feeder.Never had one choke teeth seem ok.
sheep have them via a marshal side spreader.

the machine has a grate which protects the blades so a stone isn't a huge issue - small stones naturally go to outside of the drum and they drop through a stone trap....stones aren't really a big problem....

Have you got a rear discharge spreader? We put the beet out for the sheep with ours and we'll put a load out through it into a heap
in the silage pit so we can feed it to the cows. Chops it nicely.
