Our contractor has a pioneer badged micro additive applicator which is very low volume but only certain additives seem to dissolve well enough to go through it at the low rates, the forager has a belly tank and normal additive applicator but i guess they dont want to be bugering about with IBCs/waiting on farmers.

Any recommendations?

I've never used an additive on WC before and last year we definitely lost too much to heating on the face.

Thanks
I have tried Biotal and was not impressed, it did heat and the seller gets 60% commish !!
For the last 3 years have worked with Kelvin Cave stuff, and it does not heat even 3-4 days after blocks are cut out, yes its dear but soo is stuff that does not work !!

Part of my problem is I still don't have a pit, just a heap, which makes clamp management harder.

Can you make your heap a long sausage? Your always going too loose out on your face if youv a big mound your only taking a grab a day from... wholecrop goes off fast so you want a really narrow clamp so you can cover the face in a week really

Definitely need an additive. I've never heard anyone complain about biotal product before but you live and learn.
I've sat quiet on this subject but last year was the 1st time using biotal whole crop additive and can honestly say it's the worst I've ever used. The heating on the pit face has been terrible. 1 day and it's covered in mould. I honestly think if I hadn't put any additive on it, it would of been better. The heat the clamp generates under the sheet was unreal. Had the fella out and he was very apologetic and we came to a agreement 'kind of'. But god knows what it's cost over the winter in waste (1 tonne each pass at least gets chucked away) and feeding microsorb. Then the odd cow problems early on. We were offered this year's for a discounted price but on this occasion have decided to decline.
