Quite possibly something completely different, but i've had a couple of ewes in the past with similar sounding symptoms that were getting their cud trapped between their jaw and their cheek. I used to catch them daily and clean it out (molars are sharp as someone else said) - one came right in about a week, the other went away with the knackers!

At £66 Will those drench guns last any longer than the freebie ones you get that only seem to last two seasons...

I have two (both FOC/with offers I hasten to add) that have been used regularly for several years, one since Zolvix was launched. They rarely get washed out or given any attention, and are still like new. They have lots of different products through them (certainly not much expensive Zolvix though) too.
I do use the freebie ones too, but favour the Zolvix gun for anything less than 8ml, especially if in the CombiClamp. However, the thought of spending £66 on a drenching gun would give me night sweats I think.

You'll not be rushing out to buy a Shearwell Bluetooth one any time soon then?

I thought that a while ago with a ewe.

She went lame, pulled a big thorn out of the soft pad on the bottom of her foot. Gave ab, sent her down the field, she got better.

A month later, lame again. Side wall of the foot peeling away a bit (Shelly hoof?) and a bit smelly. Thought to myself “TFF would say cull her”.
I cleaned it out with water, sprayed cyclo in it and packed the little cavity with hoof putty. Sent her down the field. Took all of two minutes.

That was over a year ago. She had lovely twins last year and is in lamb scanned with twins again. She could have been culled all for the sake of two minutes.

Like you say @Henarar we don’t have hundreds, but it’s all relative.

I wouldn't cull a ewe because she got a thorn in her foot, and the other problem could well of been that working itself out. I wouldn't think that was her fault particularly so I'd give her a chance, but get rid if she still gave bother.
