@Henarar , personally I'd be doing the same thing. He's a young ram and you rate him (for whatever reason). All you're gambling is his cull value of maybe £70? and some abs. I'd be giving him a chance too, but I would also be surprised if he responded.

Good luck with him.
Thanks (y)
the trouble when we only have a few is we tend to give things a go when perhaps we shouldn't or wouldn't if we had a thousand
It would mean a special trip to take him to market and to be honest I wouldn't like to do it, not that he looks unwell but if he is sat in the pen with stuff coming out of his mouth it wouldn't look good

can't take him now as he has been jabbed

Not good but you may be lucky and its just an infection.

If in doubt always pick the brains of people on TFF before given meds, don't listen to the vet as they will always say jab them but as someone else said sometimes your first loss is your least loss.

Never been any good at it temp just seems to go higher the longer i leave it .

I do wonder if those thermometers they use on engines would be any good...........:unsure:

There many reasons for cud spillage. One common reason is throat damage from rough drench gun or bolus application.
I recall an experienced vet once recounting the story of a farmer with over 100 ewe hoggets spewing their cud. After close inspection it was discovered that the new young shepherd, in his enthusiasm to show how many sheep he could drench in an hour, injured the throats by slamming the gun down the throats in his haste. Often these injuries heal, but if copper has been added it irritates and erodes the injury making regurgitation difficult and messy, often leading to permanent damage. Cure.....sack the shepherd.

A radical redesign of the common or garden drench gun should be on the cards - it could make the job better for the operator and animal.

Having the nozzle facing in the opposite direction would be the drawing board starting point.

Trouble is development costs money.

Yes i might try one for lambs.

(Maybe) a bigger capacity barrel and slightly stronger spring would develop it if someone else bought the patent.
