Wife ran away

As I see it, a marriage/relationship requires work to make it work.

Both parties need to make the effort, it's easy to get stuck in a rut.

It also needs to be right early on, although people do grow apart.

Sex is an important part of a relationship too.

You see a lot of people who have been together long term, suddenly get married and then divorced within a year or 2.

The relationship was already failing and they wrongly thought getting married would keep them together.

I’d advise my kids to consider a prenup. It might help them realise what a woman gives up by being a ‘farmers’ wife.
Nobody twists anyone's arm to be a farmer's wife, and nobody should give up anything that they regret being without for the sake of being in a relationship.

It's important that everyone feels free to say no, and feels free to go. That way the only ones left are those who genuinely want to be there.

Can always remember one of the old blokes in the local pub telling me once “The wife and I have been married for 50 years. We split up for 5 years in the middle then got back together again and do you know what.........those 5 years were the happiest years of my life”

Is a pre nup actually a legal document, thought it was only advisory

According to my solicitor,no,it's not nailed on like in some countries.

If done correctly and fairly - ie independant advice sought before signing etc then I believe there has been uk case law whete they have worked or at least been taken into account

No guarantee but a dam sight better than nothing was the advice I was given

One for the ladies.
Why did you divorce your husband ( farming or otherwise)?
Did he think more of his farm than you?
Did he put his farm before you?
Was he a complete control freak out of the dark ages?
Or did your husband (now ex) think you were a sex object as in the ooooooooph pages on TFF, which are great to look at,
but treat women as sex objects.
If non of the above why did your marriage/ relationship end in tears???

Anyone who invents a formula for matching future husbands and wives , will be sitting on a fortune.
I courted a suitable young lady, for five years before she dumped me, left me bereft and I married on the rebound, to a girl nobody would have matched me to. No farming background, no money and I think my family thought a gold digger
I worked 24/7 and never had time for her, she raised the children and it was tough at times, but she worked with me. 24/7 too, as she had the same work ethic.
When I was dumped it was a very lucky day in my life and we will soon celebrate 40 years. :)

It's necessary to have a woman who shares one's vision. If they don't match there will be problems, so change the woman or change the vision .

  1. You should find a woman that helps you with the cleaning and the chores,

  2. You should find a woman that is a good cook,

  3. You should find a woman that you can trust and share your feelings with,

  4. You should find a woman that enjoys making love to you,

  5. Last and the most important thing is that these 4 women should never meet.

It's a strange thing but I had lots of g/f's before I married and i have never once been tempted to stray or look to stray over nearly 17 yrs now and I 'fancy' my wife at least as much now as I ever did.
I guess I'm naturally a one woman man, but a couple near me have split after less than one year of marriage and they lived together for years.
Tis' indeed a funny world.

Four at max. My best friend is a second wife (as in parallel, not in series) to a Muslim guy, and their marriage is the most loving and stable of all that I know first hand.
If it works for them,if everyone is happy and it's not done under duress, then good for them. Is the fact that he is a muslim relivant or is the relationships based on cultural or religious conformity?

I mentioned that he is Muslim only with respect to the previous comment about Arabs. My friend is a convinced atheist with a Christian background, she does not want to be a full-time wife, but part-time totally works for her. ;)
