WiFi calling

Tried using WiFi calling on Vodafone recently and the caller the other end advised it seemed like a really bad line.

According to Vodafone, WiFi calling is only designed for mobile to mobile calls, not landline to mobile!

Seemed rather funny to me....I assumed WiFi calling just covered getting the call from my phone to Vodafone HQ, whoever I was calling.

Thought I’d flag this up in case others find similar issues.

I think it depends how good your broadband is , I have it sometimes ok and often not , I can here people perfectly but they can't hear me , I have been told it is because our broadband is through a sat dish , not wire , don't know if it makes a difference

The upload speed of your satellite broadband will be poor, much poorer than wired broadband/fibre. This is probably why, when you speak you are sending, uploading data...

They’ve had WiFi Calling now for about 3.5 to 4 years actually (time flies!) about 18 months or more. No charge as long as you're in contract.

As said performance depends on having a half decent broadband connection. Ping time and latency is just as important as speed.

Hence a “fast” satellite broadband connection will be pretty poor due to the very looooooong ping times over satellite broadband, which will distort the connection.
