Eastern Garter snake. Very common around here. Great insect and vermin eater, could use a 100 of them. This one a little short for a belt but perfect for garter.A Garter Snake?
Have you got golden eagles in your neck of the woods? Could it be one of those sea eagles they released? Was it isle of White?View attachment 979339
First time I've ever seen one if these .... even if I'm not sure what it is.....(Golden Eagle I think)
I would agree, that was my first thought. No, I've been told its a juvenile white tailed sea eagle
Do you walk with a heavy foot if you walk down a stream you won’t see anything if you sneak along like when I’m trout fishing I see them reckon they feel you coming in the groundI've never seen a snake of any kind in the wild - I'm pleased to say ! . A.F.A.I.K we don't have any around here , neither grass snakes nor adders . The nearest that I've ever been was when I was at the Remount depot in Melton Mowbray . A couple of us would skive off for the day to the bottom of "The Long Gallop " with a mess tin, a pat of butter and a loaf , scrounged from the cookhouse .We then spent the day picking blue point mushrooms , frying them in butter, on toast ! Lazy days .! There was a stream there and there were many shed, moulted snake skins , but I never even saw a live snake there .
