I missed that message - was that one from NHS England only? Certainly didn't see it up here.

Otherwise, nothing you've written contradicts the assertion that properly worn face coverings/ masks can help reduce virus transmission.

From what I remember face masks began being pushed when social distancing was being relaxed as it's just not possible for everyone to keep apart in towns and cities. While it was never said that masks replace distancing, it seems to me many people have interpreted it that way and got closer to others than they need too. How many people wear them properly and change/wash them regularly?
Better than nothing perhaps? Have any studies been done on an incorrectly worn mask VS no mask?
Apparently you are required to wear them on public transport here, can't really see why but ok. I've recently been inside a hospital on a number of occasions and in more publicly accessed areas have seen no mask use from hospital staff, doctors or nurses.
I really think the mask use has become a, got to be seen to be doing something exercise by governments.

Wore mask yesterday as I was required to do so to play toy soldier with one person on business premises - just us there, 2000ft industrial unit.

Went for cup if tea afterwards - no mask needed in comparatively full, mixed coffeeshop.

Played the same game last Saturday in a friend's 200ft kitchen. Four people. No mask required.

Just a bit silly now isn't it? All of us vaccinated too. I wouldn't have bothered except the owner knows me so I feel I can't use the "fake special needs" card. Once gaming venue gets a drinks license and sells scotch eggs we will be saved.

Going for my second jab today with the other half . This is at the hospital ,and everyone social distances and wears one there !
Obviously the NHS are in the conspiracy / oppression business too !!
So anywhere I am asked to wear one I shall comply !! I dont mind being told to do so -one day it will end and then thats all great !

I am not a psycologist ,but an awful lot of railing agains masks is because some people think they feel silly with one on !!

The hospital is merely providing a venue for the oppression.
The oppressors are those in masks.

Well when the NHS got hold of my Dad and gave him Covid he couldn't get out and we couldn't get in to see him which isn't what you would expect in what used to be an allegedly free country so I'd say actually he isn't nuts at all.
I discharged myself from hospital , no problems at all .

He couldn't as he was deemed not to be able to take care of himself even though his grandchildren had been looking after him and we had private carers. Nor were we able to visit him nor were we able to talk to him on the phone as apparently the phone was a means of transmitting Covid. I presume you are younger than 81 and hadn't suffered hypoxia due to a mistake made by Doctors. And as I have stated previously a week after being discharged apparently in good health he was dead three days after his Covid jab. One thing everybody needs to do whilst in good health is nominate someone to have medical power of attorney because if the State gets you it won't let go.
I don't know your case but I doubt it was anything like ours.

I'm vey sorry abut that. Must have been and still will be painful.

I am sorry to hear that too Lowland.
my Mum was taken ill in Jan and she knew it wasnt good but hadnt said anything.
She refused hospital (and we were glad because I fear she mifght have been stuck and we couldnt see her ) I wouldnt have blamed the hospital mnd ,but your poor Dad sounded a different case
But she went into a local hospice and we were allowed with full PPE , to vist ,until she passed a few days later !
All very traumatic ,admid Covid ,(which had been in the hospice a few weeks/days before apparently )
