Not used straws from him, but have stock bull out of him.
Very very pleased with his offspring so far.
This years calves are his second lot for me and simply delighted to be honest. Have kept most of last year heifer calves for replacements and will do likewise this year.
I noticed on the Irish Limousin society sales reports this year that young bulls sired by him doing a very strong trade.

Thing is that bull would be much lighter and functional walk wise and foragability wise, if he was doing a proper day job with a herd of cows on open pasture.
Fact he is fed to be milked for semen and to be admired by onlookers does no favours for his ability to dance around the place.
Few pics of grand children of him I have had off him. Black one is bull calf off lim X cow (25% Holstein) at one month old. Yellow is bull calf off white char cow at 3 months of age.
White face one is heifer calf off char x simm cow at nine months.

Nice calves

If condition has done that to him then it's time he lost some weight, because that video would only do a bull's reputation harm. I would doubt his functionality based on what it shows, I've seen plenty of fat cattle, but those legs have issues, all be it that it may be caused by levels of feeding that he's not fit for.
It is also a well known fact that fat bulls produce less semen, AI stations will keep bulls very in very fit condition for this very reason, fat bulls underproduce by a long way.

That bull has been fed to a risky degree. In the film clip , he looks uncomfortable on his feet. Far too strong and rough at the shoulder - that would be a calving concern for me. The legs - well I'd have doubts about how that bull would last under any conditions other than standing still in a pen and having all his feeding carted in to him. It's all very well to say that he doesn't have to be functional , but his offspring certainly do if they are to go on to work on commercial farms where the work will be expected of them and they won't have their father's feather-bedded existence.

@Ashtree , you say you're keeping his daughters? What are your expectations for their milkiness?

Good question. I'm coming off of char and lim X cows. Most have a dash of shorthorn in the background, and a few have bit of Holstein.
Hoping that helps even though it's getting further and further diluted.

According to Cerberus own EBI data, he is strong on the maternal and terminal indexes. Daughter milk rated at +5.8kg at 66% reliability.

Here's hoping!!!

France may be the place to look!!!

I don't keep Lims, or in fact any cattle any more, but we did import Lim cows from France on two occasions over the years, one of which ended up making a big name for herself.
The French, at least when we were out there, seemed to still value the importance of feminine cows, and valued good female producing bulls which wouldn't get a second glance in Carlisle.
Unfortunately some UK breeders tapped into the French boucherie (?) bulls and imported them over here for breeding instead of allowing them to continue on their intended journey to meet their makers.

Yes I know this thread is 6 years old..... was just googling cerberus as he'll be in the black Friday sale at whinfellpark sale next week. Anyone got cows by him as his milk ebv is ridiculous. Anyone kept cross bred cows by him?

Given his age, and numbers of progeny, you would expect his milk ebv (and others) to be pretty accurate.
