Having the silo sat on a big gap of fresh air looks terrifyingly precarious, but the lads soon have the next ring of sheets fastened on.

Here is the view from the top of the nearest older silos.

You can just see a square access hatch on the silo, where the roof meets the wall sheets. There will be a ladder down from the top catwalk.

This shows the elevation from the SSE direction, with J1 on the left and J5 on the right.

These 5 silos on the SE corner of the site have a combined capacity of 15,300mt (at 76kg/hl).

It's going to look a bit bobbins with just the one / two. But when all done.....

@Woldgrain Storage , reading your thread is really interesting, thank you for putting up the many photos.
Our grain storage looks positively tiny by comparison.
Our last silos went up in about 1983, it's all a bit different to your system.

The silo manufacturers say not.

Grain holds its temperature so well that, once the silo is cooled, the only bit affected by the sun will be the grain actually in contact with the walls.

I'll share some data from our temperature monitoring system, to show what some of them empty silos are like this week.

The roof colour is supposed to blend with the sky from a distance, but it all depends where you're stood...

Today both silos reached their full height of 19m (plus the roof).
