Been umming and arhing over getting one ever since wood burner went in. Finally bit the bullet this autumn and got one. 4 bladed one, circa £60.
Wish had got it yrs ago.
Got a smaller 2 bladed one for the old man, and he reckons that's pretty effective too
Hardly anything. pretty much silent. How much noise does it make?
They generate a small electric current, buy heat differential, which drives the motor. Hence they work best at the edge of the stove or they get too hot. Our stove is so hot anyway the fan made little difference, so sold it to an eco enthusiast!Do they work by convection ? or what ever it's called.
Give me 10 mins and I will tell you the answer.Any idea what temp the top of the wood stove needs to be to keep the fan going,as I am wondering if our Aga top would be hot enough to drive a fan.
that's my stove and guardWork a treat.

Right. Yes the fan will turn on top of the aga but only just. Not at a speed that will do any good.Give me 10 mins and I will tell you the answer.

I got one of these for Christmas, my stove has a steel plate on the top with an air gap between it and the fire box so the fan takes ages to get going.
Thinking about putting a bit of steel plate between the firebox and the top cover to bridge the gap and transmit heat to the fan base?
