im in the same debate myself whats the best gates, im debating if wood gates are worth fitting?
2 ideas, just stand the whole cost and put steel, or replace in 5 years as the wood go rotten at my cost?
##
can we still use a decent steel post to hang these wood gates from.

I’m not sure about posts- I presume they should be wooden-will check on agreement
i am going to go metal gates at own cost for road accesses & wooden internal if I can find decent ones- if not then all metal

I got hardwood posts and gates from Wynnstay.
Have they rotted yet? 😐

Hi All
Need some quality 12ft wooden field gates for stewardship grant- don’t want softwood as they tend to twist/warp- so who do folks go to for them
Thx
Tim
Still softwood, but very well made and treated, could be bought from Fence and Forget a few years ago. They are treated to the middle with creosote and are made by a bloke in a shed. (y)

Alternative, get some decent hardwood gates and treat them yourself... Another alternative e is two 6' gates, easier on themselves and the posts, unless that would be against a particularly idiotic rule...
