Wooden or steel purlins?

i know used quite a few,but they are only timber and glue, same crappy quick grown timber, surely overtime they will sag under their own weight?

Shouldn't do. In order to sag the glue will have to fail. I did it on my degree course but can't remember the real reason

We did a test where we made a gluelam beam and then loaded it with weight for a few weeks and it never moved where as a normal piece of wood the same size had bowed

just finished a 60 x 30 shed and used 1.6mm galv purlins through out .................... NEVER EVER AGAIN , took about 600 drill bits and almost two broken arms over 3 days , in comparison did a 3 link lean to last year in half a morning

yea drilled each one , its a roof over an existing outside silage clamp that just wasnt bang on square so couldnt take the chance of getting them punched
clamp zed in place on cleat ,get hole saw with no pilot drill bit in the arbour drill hole through purlin with plenty oil squirted on to keep it cool, they drill very easy start slow and keep drill speed down so you don't burn out drill bit

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
