Wool...what will you do with yours...

Maybe they just look at the Charolais lambs they've just spit out and say, "Urrgh, WTF is that?"
:inpain::inpain::X3::X3:

:playful::playful:

How many have you got @neilo?
Do you want somebody to take them off your hands?

They were all bred pure, so the photobomber has nothing to do with them.

How many have I got? Having cleared those that scanned empty, or were dry at the end of lambing, just under half of what I started with.🤐 I noticed those two were dry bagged too, having lost/dumped since lambing.

That said, they are generally doing their (single) lambs ok, clean shedding, and nothing cast or struck (obviously). I can see them being a source of shedding genetics to bring in, but I’m afraid a flock of purebreds like these would have me bankrupt!

As to whether I could do you a good deal on them, you might be surprised to hear I’m still undecided as to whether I should give the ones that lambed another chance. You know me, I do like a challenge. :)

@CopperBeech and the shedding mafia will no doubt be along shortly to say their performance is down to my poor management, which only seemed to affect that group, but hey ho.

Personally, I am genuinely perplexed as to why they’ve done what they’ve done, when everyone else seems to get on ok with them. Answers on a postcard please…

So if the wool board was to fold as some want and predict, who would the assets belong too? Would it be the same scenario as the milk marketing boards, ie. divided out to those who supported it most in it’s final years. @Frank-the-Wool
That is a very good question.

According to their annual report for 2019 ..........

British Wool (formerly British Wool Marketing Board) is owned by approximately 35,000 sheep farmers in the UK.

So how does that work then?

I'm a wool producer and send my wool to BW, so am I one of the 35,000?

If I don't send it this year, do I stop being one of the 35,000?

What if I sold to the Irish for the last 5 years, but this year send it to BW, do I then become one of the 35,000 again?

If I send one sheet a year to BW and 20 sheets a year to the Irish am I still one of the 35,000?

If I'm one of the 35,000 is some of that £10M reserve fund mine?

What happens if/when BW goes bust, (it's lost £2,936,000 in the last 2 years and the reserve fund has dropped by £4,274,000 since 2016, so, how long can it keep going at that rate??) are the 35,000 producers liable for the losses?

So many questions but nobody seems to have any answers. I've spoken to my local and regional representatives and I'm no wiser.

Wool cheque in from last year, and clipping invoice for this year arrived on the same day . It didn’t pay the rent, but got close to paying the clipping!

If BW ceases trading, they will need all of the £4m reserves to pay redundancies and legal fees etc. So we will probably all have to foot the deficit. Apart from the renegades who sell to Paddy.
