Shepherds also need to take some responsibility and produce a decent product instead of chasing tight skinned lambs and moaning the price of wool is poor when they produce a poor quality fleece.
Go away and do your home work before commenting any more .Of wool??
The wool board are saying they will pay for this years clip in one hit in 12 months time..
So does that mean that they will be 1 year behind for ALL the wool clip going forward with the 2021 wool clip only being paid for in 2022??
If this is the case then the Wool board needs to be scrapped as they are not fit for purpose!
We were getting fa for wool before corona though
Well that wasn’t my experience and I have over 1000 mule ewe fleeces included in my clip plus the rest. Most folks around me get fa as well. Not worth pissing about with. Not true!
Last years payment (so 2018 wool), my wool grade sheet had over 100kg priced at around £4/kg. That is what I got paid for that 100kg - so if BWMB take 50% for their costs it was valued at £8/kg ex farm!!!
Just plain Jane Lleyn ewes. Nothing special. My wool crop averaged £1.20/kg. Granted, that means there was a lot of shyte not worth much - but I sent in 1,400kgs in 2018.
There is value, folks need to get away from coloured wool - Blackie, Swale, Herdwick and Suffolk ewes...
