I've not had much of a problem up till now but this year seems a difficult year for us and the weather hasn't been in our favour. Have done the FEC and vets have come back with results and what wormer to use this time but not said there's anything bad. Be nice if it stopped bloody raining and had a spell of some hard frostshttps://www.scops.org.uk/
As often as you need to
To establish need you should use FEC/weight gain information & stockmanship
There is no general rule---i have sheep on a variety of systems and they all need different treatment regimes
1) Clean , new clover leys with no worm burden and animals selected for parasite resistance ---maybe no treatments
2) PP that was used for over wintering ewes ---the worm burden may be higher and hence need more treatments
3) Old parkland that has had sheep on for the last 20 years /365 days a year possibly even more treatments
Also depends on if the anthelmintics worm on your worm population ---which is why it pays to do a FEC two weeks after treatment to see if the drench has actually killed the worms, nothing worse than treating animals with a medicine that doesn't work
