Hi there. were looking at a 3300 Trac VC. its used it has 4000 hours on it. just wondering how they hold up maintenance and reliability wise. thanks

Not much idea yet I’m afraid. I’ve only had mine since May and done about 500 hrs.

Immensely strong, good build quality. Engines are excellent Caterpillar C9. Slow starting is normal, bit concerning but it’s just something to do with building up oil pressure before firing. I fitted a secondary oil filter line as advised by a user of several Xerion’s in Denmark, a bit of a known fault on the C9 can lead to injector failure but the secondary filter avoids that. Kit cost about £400. Injectors over £900 each. Quite thirsty on roadwork but capable of great lugging and draft work.

ZF Eccom gearbox, smooth once warmed up, seems easy to use and set up. Axles are very basic Raba units, strong and well engineered, not much to go wrong.

I get error codes flashing up most days, usually they come to nothing, just stop and start again, bit annoying but I’m told most kit these days can be the same.

So far I like it, but I’m not using it as a draft tractor, I have a spreader body mounted on it.

Do find the controls easy to use?

check the welding of the axle and chassis - they had issues there and would not support customers - very expensive repair - but there is a kit to prevent problems but needs to be ordered from claas direct
