payroll is one of the best things about xero

you can’t really get it wrong once set up

Perhaps I should look in time for April. Is the pension side ok to use.
I’m thinking of putting a time clock in because I am fed up of deciphering bad writing on time sheets and them arriving just in time for me to do the payroll

pension stuff very straightforward once set up yes

no need for a time clock - employees complete time sheets / holiday requests etc in a xero app which uploads to xero payroll so saves time and errors entering data etc

What's the name of the app employees use?

Our guys on a salary, but want to keep track of hours and time off so fair for both parties.

I put it in as a bill against the supplier but have a standard self bill excel file that I attach to the Xero bill and send a copy to the supplier
I did some digging on self bills a few years ago, IIRC it should have both parties vat numbers and you are supposed to have a written agreement with the other person that you are doing it.

I have 3 regulars all of which are once a year at most.

Previously I've uploaded the buying group invoice by downloading it as a csv file onto Excel, then transforming it into the Xero upload template. This keeps each component invoice as a separate invoice, this is saved as a csv file to upload as an import to Xero.

My new accountants wish to work with the buying group invoice as a singular entry with each line representing the component invoices, this is fine except I can't find a way of doing it, without manual entry:oops:.

Is there a workaround, because i cannot face manual entry?

Our buying group uses Xero so they send it across using my Xero key, and then I just attached the pdf too. It's a bit of a pain when you are looking for something you've bought through the buying group because it takes a lot more finding!

I have asked them if they could format the files in a Xero compatible way. Ezzybills rejects the summary pdf on the basis that it says statement.

With buying groups I always forward the individual invoices through Ezzybills and put them Xero using the original supplier. eg my diesel goes under NWF or Watson or whoever supplies it. I use the suppliers vat number. I’ve never been sure this is the best way but the accountant seems happy.

on my first Vat return I have got a credit which belongs in my last quarter and was credited, but somehow has got picked up by xero
any clues how to remove it simply ?
Can't remove the transaction from the accounts as that will screw every thing up. Hopefully it is just a new entrants issue

Can't you change the vat code to' no vat' so if it picks up the transaction it won't have an affect to the totals.

Anyone tried the top 3 that people recommend for comparison.
Quick books ,Xero, and Sage .
Used Xero for three years and tried sage for month as I wanted to save money by moving over.

Sage isnt as good as Xero, wouldn't do simple things that Xero does without add on's. I would have halved my monthly cost by switching but it wasn't worth it by the time I'd added on extra fee's with add on's to get the same service.

I believe quick books could be slightly better then Xero, it has one function with writing invoices that would be handy for me, adding lots of lines together and showing as one total, but probably isn't as useful for a famrer who's mainly inputting sales receipts rather than writing invoices. Again slightly cheaper but I wasn't able to get my old data converted into QB's easily or free and I didn't want to lose the access to it or I would probably be on QB's now rather than Xero.
