Yes my late grandfather was a firm believer in the benefits of trefoil in a ley not just yellow but birdsfoot trefoil as well.
Full of vitamins and minerals
Forgot to say it's a member of the pea family

Used in a mix for many years, they love it
Anthelmintic wise I couldn't comment really --- it was one of the ''reasons'' we incorporated it to start with but I am not sure I have seen any documented evidence of it's worth

Thought I’d revive a thread as opposed to a new but similar one...

How are folks getting on using these CS GS4 type legume and herb mixtures with sheep grazing?

Have some going in next spring, initially considering mix options and then a sheep only grazing strategy with a chance of keeping the diversity throughout the 5 years that is of course rules compliant.

Thanks

That will be your biggest problem as the more dominant species can take over the sward quite quickly.

First year in so can't comment to much yet, drilled in May seen fudge all rain but has grown, keep thinking that's a weed that's a weed until my knowledgeable mother points out that that's a certain grass type,
Any ground that isn't to steep to plough but to steep for silage ground is going in to herbal leys, sheep and cattle to be rotationally grazed.:).

It's difficult to keep in sheepy swards - it needs resting in order to rally - so it's not for set stocking, ime, but I've yet to till it deliberately, and the mixes might be more persistent.
What's here has more or less always been here - Lesser and Greater Birdsfoot Trefoil, summer grazed with cattle in the wettest fields, or cut for extremely late hay (drawback of Stewardship rools [sigh]) on dry-ish ones.

It's very useful as anthelmintic in lambs. There's a field that has an annual short, light graze with sheep to allow a worming dose permitted in the agreement.

The butterflies, moths, and bees love it (y)

... so do I ...
