Young farmers in mutiny

YFC is for all countryside young people. Look at how the farming community has shrunk! We need to promote rural youth but a fresh look at the weekend has to be taken.
Take it away from the public eye. As I have said on a previous thread it could be done as a festival on a showground. Complete with tents, caravans and Livestock boxes(Clean).
Competitions, dances and entertainment laid on. We must NOT dismantle a organisation that has served rural youth well for nearly a century!! If I caused mayhem my Father would have skinned me alive!!

The thing is, we did. There just wasn't all the social media to tell the world about it.
1992 AGM at Minehead anyone?

I agree with this, some of what I’ve heard went on is tame in comparison to what I remember. Having said that, anyone who lets yfc down publicly with their language and behaviour while at a yfc event should have their membership suspended and not be able to attend future events. Make an example or two and behaviour would be 100% better.

If the attraction to join any association is for no other reason than a 'bloody good pxxs up' then what is the point. The National Association are right to park the AGM for a while, they were becoming an embarrassment to the Industry. In the past to many have got away with to much, and we have all witnessed the end result.

However, as is commented on several times, things and attitudes are changing. Multimedia means no-one can just do as they please anymore, without suffering any consequences of there actions. In addition Multimedia is a great marketing tool and the future for selling, marketing and getting the message across, it needs to be embraced and exploited in a positive way. It is also correct that the YFC is no longer (and never really has been) any other than a Rural Association, with a good mixed bag of people interested in the Country as well as living there.

We need to change to survive............

I don't blame them.
For the majority of members, the AGM is the only reason they know that NFYFC exists, and the impression round here is that they've banned it because it might give a bad impression and jeopardise some of the subsidies they get to run their office in the manner to which they've become accustomed!
Listening to a lot of the members who do tug of war, Yorkshire would have a lot of backing from Essex. I'm sure actual members all over the country feel the same.

anybody with half a brain would offer the AGM up for tender, the big attractions would be falling over theyselves to bid

I was there and was completely unaware of any serious trouble until I got home and seen the news.

Same here. I’d even gone for a wander whilst th3 town was apparently being trashed, but saw nothing.
Butlins had the convention there, and it was common knowledge that it was to have a (much needed imo) total renovation straightaway afterwards. I have little doubt that they made a fortune out of it.

Pee poor weekend anyway, as AGM’s went, imho.
