Still a moderate drizzle and a cold North easterly. Overnight the drizzle has damped but not soaked the soil so it might help the grass seed a tiny bit.
Hay isn’t liking it. Like damp rags. Not much point in turning it.
Question is will my drill fan suck in too much moisture for the Timothy seed this morning?
unbroken sunshine now since Monday . The position of the high means its unlikely to change this month. Midges bad in the morning . Cows are on the hill now to save the fields from burning as its sandy soil here
Cloud, no sun, cold north eastly wind. Struggling much above 14° around 4-5 at night. Oh and a bit of drizzle 20mins ago not exactly haymaking weather.
Did see the sun for a few hours yesterday and it got to16'C but the wind never gave up blowing.
It has really dried it out now and grass growth has stalled with the low night temperatures.
No sign of any rain and it is getting late now.
Some local arable men never planted the spring crops on the poorer land which looks a good decision now as those that have been planted will never come to anything now.
Looks like an early harvest for many with the wheat coming into ear.
