Another hot day here again today.......but storms coming in overnight.
East Anglia outlook.
Forecast - 24 hours (weather and hazard summary)
Dry, sunny and hot today, with temperatures reaching the high-20s widely away from the coast, and up to 30C in London. Staying dry and warm into this evening, but an area of heavy rain and thunderstorms will move up from the south during the course of tonight. Worst affected areas will likely be the London area, and the western half of East Anglia, but there remains a degree of uncertainty in the positioning of this area. Within the worst-affected areas, lightning strikes are likely, with these frequent in heavier bursts. Hourly rainfall totals of 10mm or more are possible at times, as well as 24-hour rainfall totals of 20-25mm, and locally as high as 30-35mm. The western half of the region will be most likely to see these high rainfall totals, but they cannot be ruled out further east.

Forecast - 2 to 5 Days (weather and hazard summary)
The remants of the previous night's heavy, thundery rain will continue into Thursday morning, with a few lightning strikes remaining possible. Sunny spells will develop through the afternoon, but this may trigger one or two sharp showers or thunderstorms. This will bring the risk of a few lightning strikes and high hourly rainfall totals, but any that do form will be isolated. Clear periods on Thursday night, but heavy, thundery rain will push up from the south towards the end of the night, bringing the risk of some lightning strikes. Heavy and thundery rain will push into all areas on Friday, and persist throughout the day. This will bring the risk of lightning strikes, high hourly rainfall rates, and rainfall totals in excess of 30mm quite widely. This heavy, thundery rain will slowly clear northwards on Friday night. Largely dry on Saturday, with sunny spells, but further heavy and thundery rain will push up from the south overnight, and this will likely continue through Sunday too.
