North Wiltshire.
2 dry days.
Bitter north wind.
Foolishly thought I'd let the sucklers out.
Yet another walk of the field.......in the wellies.....stopped that plan.
Absolutely peeing it down. Started spraying off a grass ley at 7 pm with a dry forecast, bright cloudless sky. 5% chance of rain, showers dying out it said. So where did this come from? By the time I’d finished the forecast had changed to 70% chance of rain. What a crock of shite. I’ll have to plough it. At least then when it’s done it’s done. Glypho never seems to work anyway unless at ridiculously high rates.
1.5 mm last night then a touch of frost at 4am. Quite windy now after a heavy dew. Cloud building ready for some random downpours. Sprayer in shed with door locked. T2 next week. High pressure building next week so they say, like they’ve been saying since February.
The thing that beats me is despite billions spent on the met office they can’t forecast showers or even the probability of showers with any accuracy at all as I saw last night on my app with probability changing from <5% to >70% for the next half hour ahead more or less at the same time as the rain actually arrived. I know it’s almost impossible to forecast these showers so why not just admit that and stop the huge expenditure on useless technology.
Been very black. Small amount of light rain at times. Was looking out for the Lancaster Bomber. Couldn’t see it. Obscured by cloud? Couldn’t hear it either. Odd.
Half a mill last night. Stopped spraying earlier yesterday as it blackened over. Should be alright. No wind now. Will be a fair wait for a dryish leaf. Tramlines are a water filled mess as is my sprayer. Too wet to drill grass seed until at least mid next week. Perpetual dampness.
