You want a 4LK or 4LW for your Morris
Crikey, where'd you dredge up that info?? :)

I'm always passively looking for a suitable old diesel engine to go in a car. An interesting one, though, rather than a Ford 1.8D on a Type 3 or 9 gearbox or suchlike.

I have a couple of rollers I need to resurrect, too. On top of my diesel Ural motorbike. There's quite a queue forming!

Look below the Blue truck, it says download Chassis data, lucky yours is there, it seems Hargreaves, who owned Reliance, didn't always pass info on. The one in my avatar is not on the list, along with a few others I know came out of Brighouse.

Although I once rang Gardner's about something, chap on the phone asked for the chassis number and he came straight back at me with the engine number, so they must have had info as to what vehicle the engine went into originally.

Is yours a LXB or LXC engine?

Organised stuff!

Mine is an LXC engine with a ZF 'box. Apparently it's unusual? Either way, it's plated at 16,000KG plus 16,000KG trailer so if I ever get it on the road, I'll stick a 50mm Rockinger hitch on it so it can drag my trailer (that I have not even collected or tested yet!).

@roscoe erf Great pictures, thank you.

Barr of Beith still move a lot of fodder throughout Scotland, though they won't move many wee square bales now.

Though I met Ian Murrie of Stirling on the A92 with a load of wee squares on the Wag and the Drag was loaded with rounds just last month.
I imagine he would have been heading for the western isles where wee squares are still in demand.

Always had a soft (?mental) spot for wagons and am enjoying the current Last Foden thread that FT started @Forage Trader

I even did my College thesis on the value of the farm lorry.

In my youth I drove various stock wagons; F86 Volvo, Merc 1617 with an air spilt 8 speed gearbox all in reverse, AEC Mercury (that really leant with a full load of cull cows and no assisters) and some interesting drives on the marquee work including all ages and weights of D Series Fords, DAF 2700 drawbar with demount bodywork and some horrible Ford Cargos.

I've also run an ERF B series with 26ft Houghton box (pictured with Jon Burgess, livestock box guru)

trucks ( lorrys ) are as much a part of farming here & as important ( or more ? ) as tractors are
