got about 8 days left here unless I go onto what would be lawn mowings. View attachment 880469
This is 25 day regrowth, as usual it’s got ahead of me.
Light covers I take it ?tried it last year to help milk quality and lost all fertility even though the stuff would have made rocket fuel silage!
Dosent look to be too far in front of you that crop when the seed heads is flying it's worse ?... also hows everybody's fertility sticking it? Ours has dropped like a stone ?got about 8 days left here unless I go onto what would be lawn mowings. View attachment 880469

Might aswell throw straws in the bin here here when there on grass full time atall. Are you still feeding silage or what ?So far so good this year, last year might as aswell as chucked the straws in the bin in may/June, will stop ZGing for a few weeks if can’t keep the right stage in front of them.

Well I was planning on starting serving tomorrow, but will delay till after this week’s TB test. Just as well as it’s 23/24*C.The heat alone might be starting to dent fertility maybe? I don't know how hot it needs to be before cows start to slow down.
That will be helping the situation then. I'm just zg grass day and night and recently started giving rolled barley ontop of grass to see if it helps any. Also on 16% protein nut in parlour. High yielders on 6kg doing from 38 to 45-46l on 2x a day and low yielders on 3kgYes a bit of first cut, 4kg of wholecrop wheat 2kg of hay and small bit mollases to stop sorting and make them eat the hay, protein is sitting at 3.3 and bf 3.9 @ 30 litres so as long as they keep holding I am happy.
My fresh fleckvieh crosses are getting 12kgs @ 50 litres. Few getting 14kgs if they get near 60l.I’m no nutritionist but 6kg doesn’t sound enough for a 46 litre cow.
I agree but the boss (my uncle) always leaning heavy on me to cut the meal back. Which might cut costs now but how cheap is it when your standing with alot of empty cows in the autumn but he always knows best.I’m no nutritionist but 6kg doesn’t sound enough for a 46 litre cow.
You need a medal for milking them the few wee have are barstewards !My fresh fleckvieh crosses are getting 12kgs @ 50 litres. Few getting 14kgs if they get near 60l.

Dont get me wrong there are ones doing 36 -38 there not all 40+.. are you on grass alone ?
Agree but how can you feed high meal levels at grass, always thought it just passed on through them too quick. Have a small handful of cows giving 40l here but they are on 4kg of a 14% nut like the rest
