42 leading figures from the UK farming industry have called for Britain to remain a member of the Eu

Before were joined we had a coal industry and a motor industry and steel industry the EU ain't helped them
Coal industry, if it wasn't in decline to start with, would have been destroyed by the EU directive on fossil fuel power stations (even though France and Germany are building coal fired stations at the moment) and the current tec in coal fired stations makes for very clean emissions and we still have good stocks of coal in the UK. Partly the reason why one political party wants to build coal fired power stations, resume the mining industry and reduce our reliance on foreign investment and nuclear power.
We do have car industry, although backed by foreign investment, we have Landrover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lotus, Rolls Royce, McLaren, and foreign makes made in the UK such as BMW Mini, Honda, Toyota and Nissan.
Steel industry....... bloody disgrace that we have to offer supply contracts (for example) to all of the EU and beyond under "fair" tendering rules........ building our ships should be with our steel supporting our steel industry and workers!!
I believe most have said that they will continue to build in the UK even if we exit the EU.

It seems to me that those who wish to remain in have assumed that the present single farm payment will remain intact and ignore the fact that a CAP can not continue in an area as diverse and as large as the present EEC. This coupled to the fact they are assuming that there will be no state aid if we exit . In reality we as farmers have a captive population to be fed a larger population per farm unit than in most EU countries. Putting on my brit hat the service industries including city business has always been unique to London and should be protected from foreign interference based on jealousy, and our manufacturing industry can trade with the world through trade barriers when it produces what the world wants at a price that is competitive and backs them up with good service, Exactly what our most successful C0s do now.

Why would they get uncontrolled access to our markets or would it be reciprocal?
How do you know support in the UK would stop in 2 years after an exit?
How do you know the EU would continue to pay support to ag in the EU if they lost their 3rd biggest contributor?

You don't know, but the bods thought we should join the Euro.... glad we didn't. The EU is in a mess and needs our contribution, without our membership I believe the EU will fail. And what would be wrong with dealing with the other 170 odd nations instead of being ruled by 27?
Hell the commonwealth countries want to resume trade and they make up 21% of the world's land mass, far bigger than the EU at a miserly 1.2% and the commonwealth nations make up 1/3rd of the world's population, whereas the EU has 11%.

We would have more customers, more secure borders, less red tape (unless you wanted to sell to the EU) and continued support for ag, fishing and a large amount of money not going to the corrupt EU that could help support the NHS, Schools the elderly etc...... and the politicians would be directly responsible for their decisions without passing the buck........ seriously, what is not to like about getting out of the EU?:scratchhead:
Everyone from boris down have said food prices will fall because we will be able to import more from around the world. I Would like to know what red tape would go my fear is even more because that's what we are good at and don't forget all the people working for the eu,they will be found work back here dreaming up even more red tape. I Believe we are allowed to trade now with who we like so what would change?.

Perhaps you could answer the questions I asked?

You just made sweeping statements not questions
Why would they get uncontrolled access to our markets or would it be reciprocal?
How do you know support in the UK would stop in 2 years after an exit?
How do you know the EU would continue to pay support to ag in the EU if they lost their 3rd biggest contributor?

Why and how start questions, not statements, but I understand if you don't want to enlighten us!

Voted against anything not in the interests of the UK, but as we have so much influence in the EU (and to facilitate change as you have posted elsewhere) we have been out voted and ignored every time.
But then I am sure you would prefer more nodding donkeys from Lib Lab Con to vote for everything the EU proposed, and surrender what little of our nation we have left, but then you wouldn't really care as you will continue to get your shrinking subsidy payment and by the time the real dictatorship from the EU takes over it will be the next generation that will have to deal with it, and not you.
With people in the UK happy to sell out our country, I feel sorry for the millions who died to give us our freedom, for people to just give it away!
Oh sure . I bet slating the French as cheese eating surrender monkeys may have caused a titter with the little Englanders wit their Rover cars but it makes me cringe when it's published on the World stage . HE does NOT speak for me

Unfortunately the "little englanders" are those who wish to sell out the UK instead of setting her free to deal in the World. And he may not speak for you, but he does speak for the majority of the UK, who voted him in.

even the out campaign want to trade with Europe so a trade deal will be done and you can bet your bottom dollars that agriculture will be hung out to dry to protect the city

We are only guaranteed 2years sub if we leave any more is up to the government of the day
We don't know if they will still pay if we are not there to pay our share but neither do you know if they won't pay the subs
I hope that's enough for you

Exactly..... 3 questions to you and no answers. And as I said before, they are questions NOT statements...... sweeping or otherwise!

I think you will be very disappointed on the 24th then! UKIP are not going anywhere whatever the outcome of the referendum.
Maybe dead is an exaggeration; they will be able to comfortably recoil in to being the protest party safe in the knowledge they can say what they want as they will never be in power. They can continue to be an irritant in local Government politics

The SNP South of the border - long live their mantra "we was robbed"

On June 24th your rose tinted specs will turn green with envy with the realisation that your competitors on the other side of the Channel will continue to receive support payments and you will not.

Well we wont leave until 2019 anyway, the cap is being reformed in 2020, but by then the payment per acre will have dropped to around £30 acre anyway ( rest will be pushed into stewardship schemes ) so it will hardly be worth claiming anyway!

I Don't know what has happened there but if you click and expand my answer are there
Thank you.
All I know is the current Minister for Farming has said that support will continue. The Government will never give an idea of what it will be like outside the EU as it will immediately undermine their case to stay in.
If the Agriculture Minister says that support will continue, who am I to think it is untrue?? Closest person to the government related to our industry who will, at least, shed some light on it.

I'm more intrigued what makes you a "Leading Farmer" as far as the NFU think ? there are some on that list that don't even farm in their own capacity these days I believe

I have met a lot off the very best UK farmers over the last few years and all are absent from that list

Really starting to grind me the way that this industry is "represented" by a few who simply bother to turn up for meetings and pat each other on the back
