on the can it says its for soil acting herbicides
To do what though on the soil? Have a Google of it or organosilicones in general, they are for the leaf and every paper I have seen references that. Very little regulation around adjuvants sadly In terms of their efficacy and use, therefore very little trials back-up from what I have found
I am guessing you mean your can of C-cure? When I've asked the question that is for soil as it is a petroleum oil, which makes sense. But from memory it has a short chain length in its chemistry so not ideal. Probably help with a drift a little though

As I have a new agronomist (Agrovista) for part of the farm, and he has sent some of his Remix / blue stuff, I have done a half field with it. I dont expect miracles, but if it works then it will stay, if it doesnt it will go.

A recent visit from a individual who is employed to carry out trial work for various individual company's and suppliers commented these exact words when reading our spray recommendations -' most adjuvants you would be better using them to light the bbq ' as for defy it is your adjuvant for what it brings to the party' . And as for applying these as a pre em ' your spraying to soil for f...s sake , how do the think it's gonna attach its self to there any better ' . As for in fungicide usage most brand name products are already full of adj's , as for non- generic he could see some reason for theses . Only adjuvant they believe to be completely necessary - biopower , even more so than the rates of actives . One comment on glyphosate was at £1.50/ l just add 1/2 l more . Once you've applied it you'll struggle to wash it off . . His last comment was they are ' agronmic advisors' , posh words for salesmen . It's your money spend it wisely , your own experience and knowledge should lead the way but unfortunately there's still a lot who just take little interest apart from getting the job done then moaning about the cost later . When it comes to machinery there all ears , chemical is just not so interesting and yet probably the biggest expense on most farms

I think there is some new research work results coming from AHDB soon about biostimulants etc, may include adjuvants as well?

Can 3 agronomists be that wrong using defy? We are in fairly heavily infested bg country here?
Perhaps. What is the rest of the prescription? I wouldnt add Defy at the expense of flufenacet. Infact, I would max out pretty much everything else. Defy is not cheap at rates more effective than mild pee. So you would want to be Avadexing, 360g flufenacet, Atlantis and Lexus'ing before the Defy. It does add to the control, but in terms of £££ per % extra, I dont rate it at the expense of other actives.
Now, if it were the same price as Treflan used to be......
Treflan, simazine and ipu are top of my want back list.

1lit Movon + 3lit PDM be cheaper/better?
I have no idea of the cost of Defy this year, but it has always been dear. Could be useful for those with less BG but more cranesbill, especially as cranebsill seems quite happy to shrug off Atlantis in the spring now.

indeed on other thing he said was add anything pdm / dff etc before he would touch defy. We use 3 agronomists and if it wasn't for a very good financial understanding between us and them 2 would be finding another customer . Of interest was he said we was getting 10tha in early 80s in there teams eyes genetic development of seed was the way forward as fungicide haven't delivered the increase in yield near on 40 years since it was first achieved .

Well I've used generic Defy for three seasons and done some field splits and seen a difference so carrying on with it. Main programme is 4L Crystal + 3L prosulfocarb + 240ml Sempra fb Avadex in worst areas. Prosulfocarb I would say is very effective at peri-emergence, but not much use pre-em if applied a couple of weeks before BG begins to show.
I've tried some adjuvants but now just use 200ml C Cure in drifty conditions.
