My valtra would be traded in to help cost of a replacement tractor. I'll not be buying new tractors what ever that suits my job and that will be in my price budget. I don't need nothing fancy or a complete head turner
Can you tell me how on earth can change a tractor when you put your replacement cost in at £2 something a hour ?
Your sums do not add up or you have not found the on/off button on your calculator yet. Be good luck to you and I hope it works for you

Those old model valtras are very cheap to run , some years you spend nothing on them , other years you need a clutch , brake cylinders or hydraulic pump , they won't cost £1 / hr on repairs unless your very unlucky .

that list covers the parts fitted to our 8400, pluss a solenoid and brakes, brakes was set up wrong by general mechanic

In that case it can be better to keep it and if you need to take a loan etc out to buy a replacement, I know right if I went to trade the 82 in I'd maybe only get 5 or 6 grand so I will keep her and just buy another one. @Shane s your better to charge abit extra, if you get it happy days and if not you can come down in price abit and you will still make money and customer thinks they're getting a good deal and that they've bargained you down

give the lad a break he wants a realistic price to charge for what at the minute is an interest/hobby it might well be full time employment but not there yet, he is still doing a levels etc and not fully set on what he will earn his full time living wage, just something he would like to give a fair run at.

yes tractor could crap itself but then it might run for ten years with servicing and fuel, with your reasoning on cost priceing to unknown hrs a year work that each item should be costed at a certain amount. you may well have done a business plan and said that your first tractor will do 1000hrs in the first year and had enough sure work to complete that, fair enough, but NI is different and so is Shane circumstances, he cant very well start tomorrow morning on a contract to draw slurry for two months. when his business comes to a time that it is worthwhile and it then needs to be looked at again in a more business manner with replacement costs and depressiation, sort of work carried out and possible new markets etc

Well said. There seems to be a large difference in amount of work and prices of work over hear in N.I I know if I went out at some of there prices over here I wouldn't get a day's work. I'm going same kind of was as you at the moment. It's a hobby sort of thing. I'm doing round and square balling and wrapping in summer and and any slurry and drawing grass etc is a bonus. Hopeing will get more work with baling this year going if there's better weather and as better known as second year out.
