New holland front suspension problem

My new holland T7.210 front suspension has always seemed rough as hell to me like it isn't working... turn it off and no difference... dealer looked at it few months ago and said nothing wrong but it's horrendous really on the road... put a bit of weight on it and it's smooth as a baby bottom on the road?? Which tells me something's not working properly but then a bit of load on it's pushing it in?

We have the same tractor and also a t7.200 both are very rough on the road. We have also have dealer out and fitted i think an extra accumulator which did help a little bit but still rough. The ride comfort is shocking with or without a weight on which is a shame as the tractors go well and are nice to drive.

If Iv say a weight on the front and a weight on the back to keep it balanced it's smooth as hell ... but nothing on the front and it bounces up and down like the bloody Churchill dog

Did they check the accumulator pressure? Did they calibrate it? If they calibrate it and it goes through that fine, the hydraulic side is working so would indicate an accumulator being low on Gas in my opinion.

Ours has been calibrated loads of times because we were always complaining and it goes through the calibration process ok but makes no difference to the ride. We have a speed bump on the lane and when going over it you cant see nothing happening around the suspension to cushion the bump. Its been the same since new and both tractors are the same.

They calibrated it and checked the accumulator pressure and said there's nothing they can do about it.... I don't have the best of faith in the dealer to start with though so wouldn't trust them... can I calibrate it or is it laptop job?

Mine is also bouncy on the road, not horrendously bad but like you say not much movement from the suspension.. Someone was in with a John Deere 6r yesterday and you could see the suspension moving up and down a lot even just moving forwards and backwards in the yard.

Yeah Iv drove new hollands all my life and have drove deeres and Masseys and Iv never experienced anything like it from a tractor with front suspension.... generally if youv got suspension if you break real hard you'll see the nose dip and accelerate hard and it'll raise.... also can go over bumps and obviously see it moving but this just seems like it's turned off all the time....

To see how much the suspension is actually traveling, a crude check that I used to do when developing bus suspension damper settings:

Put a cable around the suspension ram piston rod at the cylinder end. The cylinder then pushes the cable tie down when you go over a bump. The more compression travel used, the closer the cable tie ends up to the end of the ram.

To measure the rebound travel used, a bit of fishing line, or even strimmer plastic wire can be used, though a long cable tie will work at a push.

Fix one end of the "string" tightly to the end of the ram piston. Put another cable tie around the body of the piston and the string. This cable tie should be tight enough not to move, but still allow the string to be pulled through when the suspension extends (rebound travel).

You end up with a slack length trapped by the cable tie which corresponds to how much rebound travel is used.

It could be that your t7 is hardly moving without any front ballast because it's too highly pressurised (faulty pressure sensor), or that the damping is too severe when it's lightly loaded (accumulator orifice too small).

I did here once of a kit available for swb pumas where a second low pressure accumulator could be fitted for when traveling with no weight on the front to smooth the ride better never seen any with it fitted tho

I think this might be what we got fitted to our 2 at work but cant see any difference in ride after it was done. Its still nothing like a john deere suspension where you can actually see it moving as soon as you take off.

I agree with everyone in that JD are the only ones to have nailed it. It's liiterally like a floating axle, almost seems disconnected from the tractor with how well it floats over the bumps. What I can't understand is you never find it bumping out on its stops either.
