I failed to retain staff today

Don't think so, I left school in 93 and it had been banned at least 5 years before that

You are disarmingly naive, in a good way, I might add.(y)

I had many different variations of corporal punishment. The ruler across the back of the legs or tips of the fingers aged 5, the strap(literally a leather strap) across my palm aged 7, the slipper and the cane on arse and hand right up to age 12 or so when they must have eventually realised it wasn’t working. On reflection it was when the last of the ‘christian’ brothers retired from teaching.
Never had it at work though.

One of the problems now days for any business is there are a lot of workers in the system now who have had the experience of bad employers, zero hours contracts and low wages . Think tends to make people less caring and untrusting of future employers. I know that there is good and bad on both sides of the fence.

As an employer you must have faith and take risks.

It's a risk for both parties, I think there will be a major shake up post Brexit when migrant workers don't /cant turn up , better for British farm workers but tough for farmers.

If a worker doesn't want to do a job whether it's tidy up rat crap or drive the 3 year old fendt instead of the new one he has a choice take it or leave it ,so does the employer .if said worker can go through life without having to do the 'shitty ' jobs well done !! I'm sorry most people have at some time to do what they are told .apart obviously apart from the wean on that feral programme last night .oh give me strength

I think you will find that only relates to state operated schools. For the more financially endowed who paid to send their children to Private Schooling - they had the pleasure of the cane until late 1998 I believe, maybe later.

It may have been lost in the past 19 pages, but i can't recall seeing if the employee returned to work or not. perhaps this is just going to remain unanswered like the "how to remove a dead horse" thread
