Whats legally allowed/not allowed with running a limited use 4X4 round the farm for checking stock etc?

Don’t really want a noddy buggy as there too expensive and it’s all getting a bit much for the quad.

Have an old 4x4 on an exemption for my gamekeeper - x number of miles a week - but we are lucky and rarely use the road. no MOT but keep the truck tidy with lights working etc. Do a few miles for a bit of lamping around the lanes and stopped by the police ( actually taking rural crime seriously around here ) with no probs. Get a SORN and form from post office.

6 miles a week but can't see how anybody knows.
1.5km maximum journey but only between land in your occupation.
Vehicle must be roadworthy, to tractor standarđ basically. Semi tidy.
No Mot required but taxed at zero rate as limited use.
No reason why you can't have anything on limited use but they could get real sticky if it was something like a sports car etc.
I have had 4x4 and my wheeled digger is on limited use rather than full đgger licence.
Dvla were very helpful, had to send pics of the digger and a couple of forms in.

What if my house was 1.4km from farm and I took my correctly registered in limited use vehicle home at night. Would that be classed as commuting or something else non ag?

Technically that would not be legal, but as long as some petty tosser doesn't grass to the police i would chance it. Plenty would run over to neighbours etc.

Ok just looked at DVLAs website which was no help at all. Can anyone come up with a definitive list of dos and donts for limited use?

I do adore good sprited citizens....the same ones that would complain about local kids tearing about in an un licensed car.....if you abuse the rules, don’t complain when they get changed

Just in the throws of doing this myself. Went to post office armed with all my info, helpfull girl said its only a matter of changing the tax rate and she could do it there and then for me. Put my v5 into the computer and suddenly she couldn't! :banghead:
Phoning the DVLA on Monday to see what I need to send them
