mowing sheep fences - getting annoyed at having to drag 1/2 50glalon drums about full of water - massive bonfires and putting up more fences - whislt trying to learn everything there is about compost teas....oh and enjoying the rain.
Report back on what you learn about compost teas. I’ve tried them and will use them again but sometimes I wonder if they are worth the bother.

@Crofter64 -will try its really just come onto my radar - and seeing areas which i know cant be ploughed well, due to close to surface rocks, and many many nettles and thistles - that i would rather stop without thisltexing or w/e it seems a fungal herbal tea might shift the balance - who knows.. first ive got to make the compost - who knew theres a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Interesting. It's backed up by things I'm seeing here this year. I've never seen cattle choose to eat docks, thistle or Ragwort before.
 you haven't ?

I suppose one thing that has really stood out to me from TFF is the preoccupation with " weeds " in pasture & forage crops, compared to my own experience & observations.
If a plant is growing & providing diversity & function & cattle are taking nutrition from it, how is it a weed ?

May it be aligned with the farming industry - although apparently so resentfullof the equine world, actually selling a lot of grass feed stocks out that go into the equine world (Hay / Haylage / Alfalfa pellets and so on), whereby the weeds are not wanted, but one would imagine turns a good revenue?

My sheep love "weeds"! I've always used them to sweep through places (the garden, driveway etc) to pluck them all off every few weeks :)

is there a guide somewhere that shows which plants (weeds :)) are best for providing each of the particular minerals that livestock needs?
my sheep suffer from low copper - what plants do I need to try to improve this?

yeah very interesting....makes sense with what im seeing with out sheep - ive got a paddock which i would guess is 70% odd nettle/thistle coming up tomorrow - was thinking about letting em through it earlier.. might trial leaving em and seeing what happens.
If they don’t eat much Can you mow some of this paddock and see if they like the slightly wilted thistle and nettle better?

@Crofter64 they adore scythed nettles - not so much strimmed...not sure why...... as for the thistles ive not seen them eating any yet, BUT then i did forget to look - i think.. maybe 3day old cut thistle they liked but again i havnt confirmed.. but i havnt put them in a clump this big before - I am hoping that they have a go tomorrow, so much that i gave them an extra paddock today so worse case they just hammer the flattening. bottom of the pic shows they seem to be doing 80% odd trample atm - im thinking im reaching the smaller end of the paddock that i can put them onto though..
