Rugby's sqq was 247pence for springers. Definitely didn't want under 40kgs.
Sedgemoor have a good trade one week then it falls the next....its happens all the time...something does not fit right with me...its mainly dealers or farmers buying them and pitching them again...Shocking prime cattle trade at sedge today with massive falls across the board.
Same as their store cattle trade...Sedgemoor have a good trade one week then it falls the next....its happens all the time...something does not fit right with me

They had NSL penned up outside in the cull lines though I’m surprised it was record entry. Mind you I left as soon as mine went under the hammer.

Store cattle trade is being affected by the dry weather and concerns over lack of silage/ straw price etc etc.
If we have some decent rain the store price would jump much higher ( as it did the other week when we had a fair bit of rain and grass/ crops started motoring on for a few days but then the dry weather came back, grass growth etc has fallen off a cliff and store prices have dropped back again )
I could understand them going up and down by £20-30/head but why would anyone choose to sell stores at a place where they could be £100/head wrong purely because of last week's rainfall!?
Not been out yet?!Lack of rain or grass didn’t seem to effect store prices at Welshpool yesterday. Quite a disappointing entry and not many of the cattle had even been out.
Not been out yet?!
There seemed a fair lot in bakewell that hadn't been out i was surprisedNo, scarcely believable isn’t it?
Keeping cattle in feeding them silage and corn so you can make more silage....
Probably a dairy farmer had one telling me the other day how his zero grazing neighbour was nuts as carting that grass in was so expensive and it was far cheaper to make silageNo, scarcely believable isn’t it?

Insanity....apart from large short keep finishing cattle I despise seeing cattle kept indoors in summer...paints such a bad light on farmingNo, scarcely believable isn’t it?

It is for several years at least according to the auctioneer.
Don't say that on a dairy forum.Insanity....apart from large short keep finishing cattle I despise seeing cattle kept indoors in summer...paints such a bad light on farming
