Rugby's sqq was 247pence for springers. Definitely didn't want under 40kgs.

This time last year a hell of a lambs were being sold at 30-36kg as trade was good and light lambs were wanted. This year due to large number of hoggs light lambs are not wanted despite less lambs about! Scotbeef have increased bottom weight to 16kg aswell which indicates longer term demand for more weight (or should I say no light lambs). Could hinder hill boys who sell tup lambs early.

Same as their store cattle trade...

Store cattle trade is being affected by the dry weather and concerns over lack of silage/ straw price etc etc.

If we have some decent rain the store price would jump much higher ( as it did the other week when we had a fair bit of rain and grass/ crops started motoring on for a few days but then the dry weather came back, grass growth etc has fallen off a cliff and store prices have dropped back again )

I could understand them going up and down by £20-30/head but why would anyone choose to sell stores at a place where they could be £100/head wrong purely because of last week's rainfall!?

There isn’t much choice is the answer. The number of store markets that have closed since foot and mouth being absorbed into a few large sales centres like Sedgemoor makes it this way. Saying that going back 30/40 years what seems like a huge market now with say 800/1000 stores, was just an average market. How times change
